maintains a list of programs that have been granted or denied access to the Internet in Medium or High General Firewall Protection mode.
Separate lists are kept for Medium and High protection mode. The lists are populated in two different ways:
A list of common Internet programs, like Microsoft® Internet Explorer, is available to the user in Medium protection mode. These common programs have been given access to the Internet.
In both Medium or High protection mode programs can be added to the list by responding to Firewall Alerts or by adding rules by hand, as is explained below.
You can edit the list of Internet Programs that have firewall rules applied to them on the Internet Programs screen.
Note: If you configured for multiple users or if you have required a password for changing settings, you have to log in as a Privileged User or provide your E-mail address and Password in order to be able to respond to Firewall Alerts or edit the list of Internet Programs.
On the
Pioneer Complete Console, click the Firewall
button
.
On the Firewall menu, click Firewall Settings.

In the left pane of the Settings window, click Internet Programs.
Note: If you have the Firewall switched Off or set to Block all Internet traffic the rules specified on the Internet Programs screen are not in effect. A yellow triangle with a warning message will inform you about this.
The top-half of the window shows the list of programs that have Firewall rules applied to them. The following details are available:
Program – The friendly name of the program, for example Microsoft® Outlook Express.
File name – The name of the actual file as it is found on your computer.
Rule – This field is set to Allow if the program is allowed to access the Internet or to Block when it is denied to access the Internet.
Note: For High protection mode this list will initially be empty since for this mode all programs requiring Internet access need to be approved of explicitly before they can access the Internet.
The lower-half of the screen is used to edit or delete existing rules or to create a rule for a new program. To edit, delete or create rules:
In the list on the top-half of the screen, click on the program for which you want to modify or delete the rule.
On the left of the lower-half of the screen extensive information is shown on the selected rule: the friendly name of the program and its icon, the full path to the program file, the type of rule and its creation date as well as an explanation of the rule.
Click on Allow Internet Access on the right of the screen to allow the selected program to access the Internet. The information in the list of programs as well as the extensive information mentioned above change to reflect the new setting. In the top-half of the screen, the Rule field will change to Allow.
Click on Block Internet Access on the right of the screen to block the selected program from accessing the Internet. In the top-half of the screen, the Rule field will change to Block.
Click on Delete Selected Rule to delete the selected rule. The program will disappear from the list of programs.
Click Add Internet Program... to add a program to the list of known Internet Programs. In the window that opens, browse to the program file that you want to add. Select the file by clicking on it once and click Open to add it to the list. The selected program is now listed among the list of known Internet Programs. By default, a newly added program is allowed Internet access. You can edit or delete the rule using the steps described above.
Click Apply to save the changes. If you require your E-mail address and Password to change Firewall Settings, the Password Required dialog box displays. Type your E-mail address and Password, and click OK.
Click OK to close the window.
Note: If you make a change and then attempt to close the Pioneer Complete Suite Settings window before clicking Apply or OK to save the changes, a message displays asking if you want to save the changes. Click Yes to save the changes, or click No to exit the window.
